Tragic Accident in North Hollywood Claims Life of Young Woman
A tragic incident occurred in North Hollywood on Friday night, Aug. 16, when a pedestrian in her 20s was struck and killed by a car. The woman was walking in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Victory and Baker avenues around 7 p.m. when she was hit by a Toyota Corolla, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Driver Flees the Scene
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a man in his 50s, did not stop after hitting the pedestrian and continued driving west. The vehicle was later found abandoned on the side of the road on Victory Avenue east of Troost Avenue. The reckless actions of the driver resulted in a tragic loss of life.
Victim Pronounced Dead at Hospital
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
