Arrest of Marcus Boyd for Trafficking a 14-Year-Old Girl
A convicted felon, Marcus Boyd, was arrested on suspicion of trafficking a 14-year-old girl in Anaheim. Boyd, 36, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, was identified as the suspect by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities received information on July 9 about the trafficking of the minor girl for sexual purposes in Anaheim.
Police Pursuit and Arrest
Boyd was spotted driving on the same day he was identified as the suspect. When police attempted to pull him over, he refused to yield, leading to a pursuit. Boyd later abandoned his vehicle and tried to flee on foot. After a search, he was eventually found and taken into custody.
Charges and Investigation
On July 11, Boyd was charged with trafficking of minors, cater to minors under 16, possession of a silencer, evading the police, and resisting and obstructing police. The Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF) handled the investigation, with the support of the OCDA’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Unit.
The OCHTTF comprises various law enforcement agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, Irvine Police Department, Santa Ana Police Department, Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and more. Boyd is currently in custody on $1 million bail.
