Rescuing an Injured Owl: Henry DiCarlo’s Heroic Act
KTLA’s Henry DiCarlo recently displayed his compassion and quick thinking by rescuing an injured owl he found on the side of the road while on his way to work. This heartwarming incident took place on Highway 91 at the Gypsum Canyon Bridge, where Henry noticed the owl in distress.
A Concerned Citizen’s Actions
When Henry realized that something was wrong with the owl and it was unable to fly, he knew he had to intervene. Drawing inspiration from his wife’s words about not leaving animals on the road, Henry made the decision to pull over and seek help from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Despite the potential consequences of being late for work, Henry prioritized the well-being of the owl.
Collaborative Efforts for the Owl’s Recovery
Deputy Guevara’s timely arrival and assistance in safely containing the owl were crucial in ensuring the bird’s proper care. The owl was subsequently transported to the OC Animal Care Center for treatment, where Henry expressed his hopes for the owl’s rehabilitation and eventual release back into the wild. Should reintegration not be possible, Henry expressed his willingness to find a suitable forever home for the owl.
Throughout this heartwarming rescue mission, Henry actively engaged with the KTLA audience, seeking suggestions for names for the owl. His proposed names, “Gypsum” and “Linda,” pay homage to the location where the owl was found, demonstrating Henry’s care and thoughtfulness towards the rescued bird.
