Deadly Samurai Sword Attack in San Dimas

On Thursday afternoon, a domestic dispute in San Dimas turned tragic when a samurai sword was used in a violent attack that resulted in one woman dead and two others hospitalized. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies rushed to the scene at the intersection of South Huntington Avenue and Bassett Court following a distress call around 3:30 p.m.

Woman Armed with Samurai Sword

Upon arrival, authorities encountered a woman with blood on her right leg and hands, holding a samurai sword near a parked U-Haul box truck on South Huntington Avenue. The woman seemed to want to show them the weapon, but after a deputy ordered her to drop it, she complied and raised her hands.

Investigation and Language Barriers

Further investigation led officers to a nearby residence, where they discovered another victim with lacerations. Tragically, the injured woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A third woman in the residence, though uninjured, was also taken to a hospital due to a medical emergency, possibly a heart attack.

The language barrier posed a challenge in determining what sparked the violent altercation between the women, as they only spoke Mandarin. Preliminary findings suggest a possible family connection, but confirmation was hindered by communication difficulties.

Assistance and Conclusion

Interpreters were dispatched to aid investigators in unraveling the events that transpired. Sky5 aerial footage captured the scene, showing the samurai sword on the street cordoned off with crime scene tape near the parked U-Haul truck.

Despite the tragedy, authorities assured the community that there was no ongoing threat. The efforts of law enforcement and interpreters aim to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident in San Dimas.
