Target Denim Recycling Event: Reduce, Reuse, and Save
Target is set to launch its first chain-wide “denim recycling event” in August, offering consumers discounts on new denim apparel. From Aug. 4 to Aug. 10, customers can recycle any brand of outdated or used denim in-store and receive a 20 percent discount on new denim apparel at Target Circle.
How It Works
During the event, customers can bring up to five items of any condition to a Target store and place them in designated bins. Upon recycling their denim, customers will receive a 20% discount code that can be used on Target-owned brands like Universal Thread and Wild Fable, as well as domestic brands like Levi’s. Those with a Target Circle card can stack an additional 5% discount on denim on top of the 20% offer, making for substantial savings.
The Impact of the Program
“Our new denim recycling event offers families an easy way to give their old denim new life,” said Gena Fox, senior vice president of merchandising for apparel and accessories at Target. This initiative not only helps reduce waste by keeping used denim out of landfills but also makes updating one’s wardrobe more affordable. With a focus on back-to-school and college shopping, the 20% off Target Circle offer encourages guests to shop sustainably and support a more circular fashion economy.
The program aligns with the growing consumer interest in sustainability and waste reduction, showcasing Target’s commitment to curating inclusive and sustainable brands and experiences. By participating in the denim recycling event, customers can not only save money on new denim apparel but also contribute to a more environmentally friendly shopping experience.
