Arrest of Bryan Ismael Torres in Ventura
A man is currently in custody in Ventura after a shocking incident where he dragged an officer with his car while trying to evade arrest. The suspect, identified as Bryan Ismael Torres, 30, of Ventura, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest at the time of the incident.
Details of the Incident
The events unfolded on August 13 when officers located Torres at a gas station around 8:30 p.m. Authorities approached him to make an arrest, but Torres refused to cooperate. In a desperate attempt to avoid being taken into custody, Torres got back into his car and drove away. Unfortunately, as he sped off, he dragged an officer for some distance into the gas station parking lot before managing to escape the scene.
The deputy who was dragged by Torres’s vehicle sustained injuries and had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment. Thankfully, his injuries were determined to be not life-threatening.
Arrest and Charges
Following the incident, the Ventura Police Department took over the investigation. The next day, Torres was located in Oxnard and taken into custody. He now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer, and the initial outstanding felony warrant for post-release offender status. Torres is currently being held on $10,000 bail, with an arraignment hearing scheduled for August 16 in Ventura County Superior Court.
