Former Pepperdine Baseball Coach Rick Hirtensteiner Joins Oaks Christian
Oaks Christian School recently made a significant hiring announcement, bringing on former Pepperdine baseball coach Rick Hirtensteiner as its new head coach. The news was shared with the public through social media, highlighting the exciting new addition to the school’s athletic program.
Transition to Oaks Christian
In an interview, Hirtensteiner expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “It’s a good fit for me. It’s a faith-based institution, they’re very good at academics and athletics, and I think when you put those three things together, it’s really interesting to me. To be able to mentor young people along the way, I don’t think I could ask for more.”
With an impressive background that includes first-team All-America honors at Pepperdine University and a successful stint as the head coach at the same institution, Hirtensteiner brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Oaks Christian.
Building a Strong Program
As the new head coach, Hirtensteiner plans to involve himself with all levels of the baseball program, from middle school teams to the varsity squad. This comprehensive approach aims to develop players of all ages and skill levels, fostering a culture of growth and improvement within the program.
With a deep connection to the sport through his own sons, who play baseball at Heritage Christian School, Hirtensteiner is invested in creating a competitive and supportive environment for the players at Oaks Christian. His dedication to mentoring and developing young athletes is a central focus of his coaching philosophy.
Continuing a Legacy
Hirtensteiner steps into the role following the departure of former coach Royce Clayton, who left to prioritize his family commitments. Clayton’s impact on the program was significant, including a CIF championship during his tenure. Hirtensteiner acknowledges the foundation laid by Clayton and looks to build upon it in the upcoming seasons.
With his experience, passion for the game, and commitment to player development, Rick Hirtensteiner is poised to lead Oaks Christian baseball to new heights, shaping the next generation of athletes both on and off the field.
